Reflection On The Multimodal Project

For my assignments this semester, I chose a topic that I think everyone can relate to and would be interested to learn more about.  My topic is women and gender roles. I’m still happy with my choice because I learned a lot, not only about society, but about myself and the people I associate myself with.  For my research, I wanted to look more into society and gender roles and why they exist, but also why they will never go away. I think I met those goals, as I found a lot of information in my research. The things that interested me most in my research was the impact gender roles have on children and adolescents.  This project definitely gave me a better understanding of this topic than with just a traditional research paper.  I collected a good amount of information, and once I knew where to go and got the right resources, it was easy to find information.  I learned that it is necessary to find the right sources in order to have a coherent and informational project.  The piece that was the most challenging to write was probably the research paper because it took me a while to figure out exactly what I wanted to do with it. The most fun was the Rhetorical Analysis, I really liked looking at a website and picking it apart. I decided that my project would best be arranged by switching the Photo Essay and the Research Paper. I think my Photo Essay would be best as the last assignment because it shows how gender roles are in our world. Working with my peers for revising and editing helped me learn a lot about how to use sources to their full advantage and how to analyze information.  All the advice they gave me was very helpful and I learned a lot from their pieces, like that everyone looks at a writing or piece a different way. Every person has a different perspective on their topic and someone else’s.
